Preview terms
A preview is a website we have built for you to look at before anything is agreed or paid. This page says what it is and what it isn’t.
In short: the preview is ours until you buy it, it’s there to be looked at rather than used, and nothing on it is an offer until a Proposal is accepted.
1. What a preview is
A preview is a website, or part of one, that Made Digital UK Ltd has designed and built for a business before that business has agreed a Proposal or paid anything. It is published on a private address on our own hosting, is marked not to be indexed by search engines, and is provided so the business can see what we would build for them.
2. Who owns it
Everything in the preview, the design, the layout, the code, the words we wrote and any images or graphics we produced, belongs to Made Digital UK Ltd and stays ours until it is paid for in full under a Client Agreement. Accepting a Proposal and paying the deposit and final balance is what transfers the website to you, in the way clause 14 of the Client Agreement sets out. Until then, no licence, express or implied, is granted.
3. What you can do with it
You may look at the preview, show it to people in your business and use it to decide whether to go ahead. You may not copy it, download it, screenshot it for reuse, adapt it, re-host it, hand it to another designer or developer, or use any part of it on another website or in any other material, unless and until you have paid for it. If you decide not to go ahead, the preview is simply taken down and nothing else happens.
4. Your details on it
A preview uses information about your business that is already public: your trading name, your services, your area, your phone number, reviews you have earned and photographs you have published. We do not invent testimonials, prices or claims. If anything on the preview is wrong, or you would rather a detail were not shown, tell us and we will change or remove it straight away. Where a preview includes photographs that belong to you, they remain yours; we use them only to show you the site.
5. It is not an offer
Nothing on a preview is an offer, a quotation or a promise about what a finished site will contain or cost. Prices, scope and timescales are only those in a written Proposal, and the agreement between us is only the Client Agreement you accept. A preview may change, or be replaced, before a Proposal is issued.
6. How long it stays up
We may take a preview down at any time, and we normally do so if a project has not gone ahead. A preview address is not a permanent one and should not be linked to, advertised or given to customers. If you go ahead, the finished site is published to your own domain at go-live under the Client Agreement, and the preview address is retired.
7. How to contact us
